Only two weeks ago I jumped for the last time into my pool at 55 degree F. Yes, chilly, but so invigorating - my body must have begged for it since I kept it up even as the nights got colder and colder.
One day it was just too cold and windy. I stopped my habit and got lazy, not making it to the gym for the indoor pool.
Luckily, I made a trip to the bookstore and there it was - the little book by Admiral William McRaven, titled Make Your Bed. Just recently I had watched him on the internet giving a speech and was absolutely blown away by the fact that this man in uniform, richly decorated with medals, would give a talk with such simple title.
His basic point is that making your bed each morning demonstrates discipline and gives you a sense of accomplishment that you can count on everyday.
You can see the video, or read the book.
The next day I enjoyed reading from the book to my husband at the local coffee shop. The following day we went to the gym together, reviving our neglected routine of going a few times a week. We are adding the daily reading to stay inspired.
I hope I can take you along on this journey. See you again soon.
